Welcome to my blog! Here is my forum to discuss all things pop culture...and by all things, I obviously mean movies and TV shows.

Slim Pickings for February

There are really only 2 new shows premiering this month (if you completely disregard the entire genre of reality TV, which I do).
Smash (NBC)
PD: Monday, 2/6
Plot Summary: In the series premiere of this musical drama about a group of people staging a Broadway show, a writing duo come up with the idea to base a show on Marilyn Monroe, and an experienced chorus girl competes against a promising newcomer for the lead role.
Thoughts: It appears to be a regurgitated Fame. I haven't seen a preview on this so maybe that isn't fair, but it is getting to the point that if a show doesn't have an original plotline, I get bored. They do have original songs that they will be performing each week, so that adds points in their favor.

The River (ABC)
PD: Tuesday, 2/7
Plot Summary: Famed explorer Dr. Emmet Cole went looking for magic deep in the uncharted Amazon and never returned. The shocking truth about his disappearance is out there, somewhere, just waiting to be discovered. To the millions of kids who grew up watching his nature show, Dr. Cole was a hero. To his own son, Lincoln, he was more of an enigma. Now, six months after he vanished, Lincoln is finally ready to bury the past when Dr. Cole's emergency beacon suddenly goes off. At the urging of his mother, Tess, Lincoln reluctantly joins her on a search for his father.

My thoughts: zzzzzzzzzzzzz

A couple of side notes.

Cougar Town is returning on February 14 after a lengthy hiatus. It is one of my favorite sitcoms, and in my opinion, one of the most underrated ones.

Work It was cancelled after 2 episodes. Who could have seen that coming besides people with eyes, or ears, or neither, but just good taste?

Lastly, for all the Community fans out there - they just announced that the show will be coming back...possibly with a new time slot.

I'm glad Community is coming back.

Also, this isn't a brand new show, but have you seen Downton Abbey? I'm not sure if it's your style but I am really liking it so far.

Jessica was telling me about Downton Abbey. That's an English show right?

Laura, I have now completely caught up with Downton Abbey. I found it delightful.
